Basic Information

As per the ICAR guidelines, the Department of Pomology and Floriculture bifurcated into two viz., Department of Fruit Science and Department of Floriculture & Landscaping. The decision was implemented following the 134th Meeting of the Academic Council of Kerala Agricultural University held on 31.12.2019.
The Department of Fruit Science follows the mandates of Kerala Agricultural University such as research, teaching and extension in various facets of Fruit Science. The Department offers two UG courses, eight M. Sc. courses and six Ph. D. courses.

History:

The Department of Fruit Science was formed by the bifurcation of Department of Pomology and Floriculture in 2019. The Department of Pomology and Floriculture came into existence after the division of the Department of Horticulture in 1999 and was dealing with the academic aspects of domains such as Fruit Science, Landscaping and Floriculture.
