Department of Biotechnology

Education and research in Biotechnology was initiated in the College of Agriculture, Vellayani by establishing a Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Centre 1997. Later in 2003, a statutory department named Plant Biotechnology was established and then renamed as Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. The department is actively engaged in teaching, research and extension activities.

Objective

• To impart quality education to students in the area of Biotechnology to equip them with the necessary proficiency to become the next generation of biotechnologists and scientists to lead innovations in academia and industry.
