- Nalishma Raghu (2019-21-007) awarded Best Research Paper Award (Poster) on National Conference on Tropical Tuber Crops for Sustainability, Tradition, Agri-Food Systems & Resilience held from 28-29 November 2023 at ICAR-CTCRI, Trivandurm
- Organized International Seminar on “Climate Resilient Rice for Kerala” by Department of Plant Physiology on 7/3/2024.
- Conducted a seminar on “Protecting and leveraging plant genetic resources of Kerala” on 7th March 2025 funded by Kerala State Biodiversity Board.
- Mr. Anandu S. (2019-09-006) received two awards; first position in poster presentation competition and Best Poster award of High-End Workshop by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) during 18.03.2024 to 23.03.2024.
- Dr. Beena R was awarded 3rd prize under the category of best research publication-2023 for securing maximum score for research papers published during 01.01.2023 to 31.12.2023.
- Ms. Amrutha Vijaykumar (2020-21-014) received Future Food Systems CRC scholarship (fully funded) for doing PhD in Agronomy and Soil Science at University of New England.
- Dr. Beena R was awarded 1st prize under the category of best research publication-2024 for securing maximum score for research papers published during 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2024.
- KAU joined NASA’s Axiom Mission and On June 25th, 2025 different varieties of seeds (Rice-Uma, Jyothi; Tomato- Vellayani Vijay, Pulse- Kanakamony, Brinjal- Surya, Sesame- Thilathara) were carried by Astronaut Shubhanshu Sukhla to International space station (ISS)to study the effect of microgravity on seeds. After spending Time at ISS, the seeds will be brought back to earth, planted in controlled environments and will be monitored closely for changes in growth, resilience and productivity.
- Ms. Reshma Mohan (2022-21-043) received Western Sydney University Postgraduate Research Scholarship.
- In collaboration with Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB), Department of Plant Physiology, College of Agriculture, Vellayani conducted a “Rice Day” on 26.05.2025. This programme was coordinated by Dr. Beena R, (Project Co-ordinator, KSBB funded project- Ecological Restoration and agro-biodiversity conservation of Vellayani lake ecosystem at College of Agriculture, Vellayani) and Dr. R.V. Manju, Professor and Head, Department of Plant Physiology.
- In collaboration with Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB), Department of Plant Physiology, College of Agriculture, Vellayani celebrated a “World Environment Day” on 05.06.2025. Planted 16 species of forest trees like Buchanania barberi, Bushanania palodense, Calophyllum apatalum, Dipterocarpus indicus, Hopea parviflora, Hopea racophloea, Humboldtia sanjappae, Humboldtia vahliana, Knema attenuate, Makul plum(Syzygium makul), Mangifera indica, Semicarpus auriculata, Syzygium abrahamianum, Syzygium palodense, Syzygium stocksii and Vateria indica.
- Ms. Amrutha Vijaykumar (2020-21-014) was awarded the “P.K.R. Nair Prize for outstanding post graduate research in agriculture and forestry at the Kerala Agricultural University” for the best PhD thesis in Agriculture during the year 2024 from College of Agriculture, Vellayani.
